LINPILE · LAST CHANGED 12 OCTOBER 2026
Privacy Policy
This page says which information Linpile handles, where it goes, and what you can do about it.
Who is responsible
Linpile is made and run by Özge Kıter Sterl. For any question about your data, or to use the rights listed below, write to support@linpile.com.
What is kept on your phone
- your name, the language you learn and your ribbon colour
- your progress: which words you answered, how often right or wrong, and when a word is due again
- your coins, your garden, the finished gardens you saved and your saved words
- your restore key and your phone's sign-in, in the iPhone's Keychain
What is sent to Linpile's server
When you set up Linpile you get a member ID. From then on, Linpile's server stores:
- your name and your member ID
- a scrambled form of your restore key. The key itself is not stored on the server.
- an anonymous sign-in for your phone: a random ID with no e-mail address and no password
- a backup of what is on your phone: your name, language and ribbon colour, your progress, your coins, your garden, the finished gardens you saved and your saved words
- whether Garden for two is unlocked, and the App Store's reference number for that purchase
- if you share a garden: the garden's code, the two people in it, their ribbon colours, and every plant with who planted it and when. A finished garden that one of you saves is kept for both, with both names as they were that day.
- when these records were made and last changed
As with any internet service, the server also sees technical connection data when the app talks to it, such as your IP address and the time. Linpile doesn't use it to find out who you are.
If you carry on without a member ID (the app offers this when there's no connection), your data stays on your phone until you get one.
What your garden partner sees
The person you share a garden with sees your name, your member ID, your ribbon colour and the plants you planted. They can't see your words, your progress or your restore key.
The picture of a saved garden has the names of its gardeners written on it. It goes only where you or your garden partner send it.
What Linpile doesn't do
- no advertising
- no analytics and no tracking
- no selling or renting of your data
- no access to your contacts, photos, location, microphone or camera
Words and sentences are read aloud from recordings that come with the app; they were made with a computer voice. A text that has no recording is read by the voices built into your iPhone. Nothing you do is sent anywhere for this. The answers you type stay on your phone; only whether an answer was right or wrong is counted.
If you save the picture of a garden to your photos, Linpile adds that one picture. It can't see your photos.
Who else is involved
- Supabase Inc., a company based in the USA, provides the database and the sign-in that Linpile runs on. It handles the data only on Linpile's behalf. The data is stored in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Apple handles the purchase of Garden for two. Linpile never sees your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy applies to the App Store.
Why Linpile may use this data
To give you the app you asked for: keeping your progress, backing it up, restoring it and running a shared garden (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR).
Technical connection data is used to keep the service running and safe (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).
How long it is kept
What is on your phone stays there until you choose Settings → Reset everything. Deleting the app removes it as well, but iOS can keep the restore key and the sign-in in the Keychain, so use Reset everything first if you want those gone too.
Reset everything does not delete your backup on the server. That is what lets you bring it back with your restore key.
What is on the server is kept for as long as your member exists. To delete your member and everything stored with it, choose Settings → Delete my member: it is removed from the server straight away, and from your phone. A garden for two you share stays with your partner; your plants stay in it, and in saved gardens your name is replaced with “Former member”.
If you no longer have the app, write to support@linpile.com and give your member ID. It is then deleted within one month.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, have its use limited, receive it in a form you can take elsewhere, and object to its use. Write to support@linpile.com.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live.
If you live in Türkiye, the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) also applies. Under its Article 11 you can learn whether your data is processed and why, ask for information about it, learn who it is shared with in Türkiye or abroad, have it corrected or deleted, object to a result reached only by automated processing that goes against you, and claim compensation for damage from unlawful processing. Write to support@linpile.com. You can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Authority (Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurumu).
Children
Linpile is not made for children under 16. If you are younger, please use it only if a parent or guardian agrees.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app shows it to you again and asks you to accept it before you carry on.
